Introduction to the Spiritual Science Bible Studies Program (5 of 7)

Old Testament Jonah and the Whale and the Book of Job Bible Study Guide

  • Jonah and the Whale: The ancient initiation training culminated in 3 1/2 days of a death like trance that awakened the student to spiritual consciousness. This sheds much understanding of the significance of the three days and nights that Jonah remained inside the Whale (Jonah 1:17).

  • The Book of Job: The great suffering of Job culminates in God speaking to Job out of the whirlwind (Job 38). Thus we see Job's initiation experience described as "I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eye seeth thee." (Job 42:5). The remaining chapters show that "wisdom is crystallized pain." Edward R. Smith, in his lecture/guides in this program will shed great light on the dialogues and speeches of Job's friends.
