Introduction to the Spiritual Science Bible Studies Program (3 of 7)

New and Old Testament in Depth, Jesus Prophesies in the Old Testament

The purpose of this Bible Studies program is to bring these insights to your understanding and appreciation of the Bible, whatever your beliefs may be. The program will strengthen faith by grounding the student in the very wisdom from which the Bible derives. This will be done through the realization that we must awaken our powers of imagination, inspiration and intuition so that we can meet these qualities in the Bible itself. After all, the Bible was given to us through such powers. Let us try to receive these words with some of the depth in which they were transmitted. In an evolutionary sense, the transition in consciousness from the Old Testament to New Testament and the coming of Jesus was prophesized. It is this transition from outer law to inner knowing of God which we explore in our Bible Study Program, allowing you the opportunity to explore the spiritual meaning of the Old Testament and New Testament in depth What follows are some examples of the insights to be found in our Bible studies program:

Genesis

  • Genesis 1 and 2: Why are there two stories of the Creation? How could the world have been created in 6 days? This account of creation seems to be an unbridgeable chasm between science and religion. However, there should be no conflict. Since we use the term "day" for 24 hours broken into day and night, the word cannot mean "day". It must refer to some other time-frame and soul and spiritual conditions. In our lessons on Old Testament studies students will discover through spiritual science a new respect, understanding and appreciation of the great wisdom found in the first chapters of Genesis.

  • Genesis 14:17: Melchizedek blesses Abram (before he became Abraham), after which Abram gives the priest and king of Salem (or Jerusalem) tithes. Melchizedek is also shown to have been understood to be a great initiate by St. Paul in Hebrews 7.
